The Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group II first round tie between Syria and the Philippines has switched home venues. The tie will now be hosted by the Philippines on the originally scheduled dates of 1-3 February. The venue is due to be announced on Monday 3 December.

The home-and-away rule dictates that this tie would normally be held in Syria, but ongoing security concerns in the region resulted in the situation being reviewed. The decision was taken by the Davis Cup Committee after consultation with the competition’s independent security consultants.

This season, the Filipinos beat Pakistan 5-0 to reach the promotion play-offs but fell short of gaining a place in Group I after being defeated 3-2 by Indonesia while the Syrians were promoted to Group II after finishing first in their Group III Round Robin held in Iran last April.
