The ITF has announced that the dates for two first round ties involving China, P.R. and Vietnam will be changed due to a clash with Chinese New Year.
China will now host New Zealand in an Asia/Oceania Zone Group I first round battle on 27-29 January, while Vietnam's Asia/Oceania Zone Group II first round tie against Pakistan has been shifted to 14-16 February.
The ties had originally been scheduled to be played on 31 January-2 February which would have coincided with Chinese New Year, which next year falls on Friday 31 January.
The ITF Davis Cup Committee approved the change of dates based on the vast social significance of Chinese New Year in both countries and the operational difficulties it would create for the host National Association, players, public and sponsors if the ties were played over the weekend of 31 January-2 February 2014.
