When is Davis Cup next taking place in my country?

To work out the possibility of the next home tie for your team, you need to look at the relevant draw involving your team and their possible opponents.

The rule for choice of ground between two nations is as follows:
(i) If the previous tie between the two Nations was played on a neutral ground, choice shall be decided by lot. If this is not applicable, then
(ii) If the previous Tie between the two Nations was not played for any reason, choice shall be decided by lot. If this is not applicable, then
(iii) If one Nation has been entitled to choice for its Tie with another Nation in the 1970 Competition, or in any later Competition, the latter shall have choice on the occasion of the next meeting with that Nation. If this is not applicable, then
(iv) Choice shall be decided by lot.
By looking at the head-to-head record between two nations, which can be found by accessing the head-to-head page under the Teams section, you can see where the last tie was played.

If choice of ground is to be decided by lot, you can see which nation has been awarded the choice by lot by clicking on the Choice of Ground link, which can be found at the bottom of the relevant draw, in the Draws & Results section.

Groups III and IV are each played over one week in one venue according to Zone (although in the Europe/Africa Zone, these Groups are each split into two and held at different venues). Details appear on Daviscup.com in the Ties section as soon as they are confirmed.

After the 10 days limit (i.e. in the 10 days before a tie), up to two team nominations may be changed up to one hour before the draw.

After the Draw has been made, no variation may be made in the composition of the singles team for the first and second singles matches, except that the Referee may sanction the substitution of any player who has been withdrawn by the Captain for Team disciplinary reasons or who, in his opinion, is incapacitated by illness, injury or other unavoidable hindrance. Any substitute sanctioned by the Referee as a result of the withdrawal of a player for Team disciplinary reasons must be selcted from among the players nominated for the Tie and the withdrawn player may not compete thereafter in the Tie.

A Captain may substitute players for the doubles or either of the reverse singles, provided the players are from the team originally nominated.

What are the technical requirements / recommendations for visiting your website?

The Davis Cup website makes extensive use of Dynamic HTML / HTML 4, so you will need an HTML 4-capable browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 or above, or Netscape Navigator version 4 or above) or some things will look very weird or not even work at all. In case of Netscape Navigator, we recommend using version 4.07 or higher since earlier versions were highly unstable in their implementation of Dynamic HTML.

Internet Explorer users need to make sure that the security settings are set to Medium or lower, otherwise some special features will not work.

Also, JavaScript / JScript support needs to be turned on in your browser or you won't be able to navigate through the site.

Finally, your display should be set to at least an 800x600 resolution, and support a minimum of 32,000 colors.

What do I need to do to view the Live Scores?

Live scoring information is shown in the form of a scoreboard in a pop-up window which allows you to select the particular tie and rubber that you are interested in from all the matches currently being played.

Only World Group and World Group Play-Off matches are covered by the Live Scoring service on the website at the moment.

To launch the live scoreboard simply click on the flashing button that appears on certain pages on the site (the homepage, the tie details pages, and the World Group drawsheet page) when the service is live.

You need to ensure that Javascript is enabled in your web browser as this is used to launch the pop-up window for the scoreboard. You may also need to disable any software that you have running on your PC to which is designed to prevent pop-up advertisement windows from appearing.

The scoreboard itself requires Macromedia Flash Player 6 software to be installed on your computer. We use Flash because it provides the interactive features that the scoreboard requires across a very wide range of operating systems and web browsers. If you do not have the correct Flash Player already installed on your system, it should be installed automatically when you first launch the scoreboard. If it does not install automatically, you can download it FREE from www.macromedia.com.

If you have Javascript enabled and Flash Player 6 installed and working and you still cannot see the live Davis Cup scoreboard, try clearing your browser's temporary files cache. For Internet Explorer for example you need to go to Tools --> Internet Options and click the "Delete Files..." button in the middle of the options window. Select "Delete all offline content" in the next pop up window and click OK. Then close all open Internet Explorer windows. Open up a brand new Internet Explorer window and go to www.daviscup.com. Then press CTRL-F5 to reload the page and try the "Live Scores" button again.

If you have tried all of the suggestions above and you still cannot get the Live Scoreboard to work, please contact us providing us with as many details of the problem and your computer's set-up as possible and we will try to help you further.

Why can I not read the text on the homepage? Why is it so small?

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer to view the website you may have the default text size on your browser set to a very small size. We do not fix the size of our font as many websites do, as this can interfere with accessibility software and may override the viewing preferences of many people.

If you go to View --> Text Size in the Internet Explorer toolbar, try setting the size to Medium or larger. That should make the text readable for you.
