  • Tie Summary

Peru came through a stern test against Bolivia to book its place in the second round in April. After a five set win to put Peru in front for Mauricio Echazu had been cancelled out by a victory for Bolivia's Hugo Dellien, Bolivia took the doubles rubber in three tight sets to seize the advantage ahead of the final day's play. Echazu secured a vital win in the first reverse singles, meaning the tie would come down to Sergio Galdos' rubber with Federico Zeballos. Momentum ebbed and flowed throughout the match, but ultimately it was Peru's Galdos that found his form when it mattered, winning the final set 61 to confirm his nation's progress.
