  • Tie Summary

Home advantage has proved decisive when these two countries have met in the past. Germany leads the series 2-1, including a 3-2 victory in the World Group first round in 2007.

Croatia, crowned champion in 2005, reached the World Group quarterfinals in 2010, losing to Serbia 4-1 at home. It was the first time the two former Yugoslavian nations had faced each other in Davis Cup.

Germany is playing in the World Group for the sixth straight year, although the German team is no longer the force it was in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when it lifted the trophy three times. Patrik Kuhnen’s side defeated South Africa 5-0 in Stuttgart in its last outing, a World Group play-off tie.
