Switzerland host Czech Republic with a record of just two victories against their opponents from eight attempts. Their latest attempt came in 2007 when Roger Federer’s two singles victories were not enough to see them to victory as Radek Stepanek defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets in the decisive rubber.
The Swiss team have not made it beyond the first round in the World Group since 2004 and were seen off comfortably by USA at home in their opening match of last year’s campaign even when fielding their strongest team, failing to win a single rubber.
Czech Republic come into the 2013 Davis Cup campaign on the back of a strong campaign last year. The team of Radek Stepanek and Tomas Berdych are reaping the rewards of experience and have proved a mighty partnership especially as a doubles pairing with a record of 11-1.
