  • Tie Summary

Kuwait and Thailand meet with the latter having won both previous ties between the two nations. Indeed Kuwait have managed to win just a single set across the ten rubbers that have been played in the head-to-head, although they have not met since 1993.

Kuwait will appear in Asia/Oceania Zone Group II for the first time since 2009 when they begin the 2013 campaign. They achieved promotion last season thanks to victories over Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Iran in the round-robin phase before a victory over Malaysia secured promotion despite losing their final tie against Syria.

Thailand made it as far the semifinal stage last year having beaten Sri Lanka in the first round before Indonesia came from behind in the next round on the final day to knock Thailand from the competition.
