  • Tie Summary

Mexico will travel to El Salvador in the Americas Zone Group II second round looking for its second win over the hosts in as many years. Mexico won their Group II first round meeting last year 5-0 on clay courts at home, but can expect more of a challenge on away hard courts this year.

Mexico defeated Puerto Rico 4-1 on away soil in the first round. Daniel Garza starred for the visitors, winning both of his singles rubbers and teaming with Santiago Gonzalez to win the decisive third doubles rubber.

El Salvador also recorded a comprehensive 4-1 first round win, defeating Bahamas thanks to the efforts of the Arevalo brothers, Marcelo and Rafael, who between them secured four rubber wins, including the decisive third doubles rubber, for the hosts.
