  • Tie Summary

El Salvador host Venezuela in this Americas Zone Group II third round clash with the winners being promoted to Zone Group I. It will be only the second time the two nations have met. Venezuela won the only previous meeting 4-1 in a Zone Group II relegation play-off in 2008.

El Salvador are pushing for promotion courtesy of a 3-2 victory over Mexico. Once again, El Salvador's heroes were two brothers, Marcelo and Rafael Arevalo, who, between them, won both the singles rubbers on the opening day as well as the doubles rubber on day two.

Venezuela's journey to the third round was just as comfortable as they booked their place following a 4-1 victory over Peru. They had also secured victory after just two days, with David Souto playing a big part in the tie, winning the second singles rubber on day one before teaming up with Luis David Martinez to win the doubles rubber.
