    Dominican Republic will play host to Chile in this Americas Zone Group I Relegation play-off. This will be only the second meeting between the two nations but Dominican Republic will be hoping to improve on the last meeting when they lost 5-0.

    Chile lost to Ecuador 3-2 in the Zone Group I second round. Paul Capdeville won his Friday singles rubber and the doubles on Saturday but was forced to retire during his singles rubber on Sunday, leaving the tie finely balanced at 2-2 before Ecuador's Emilio Gomez defeated Christian Garin to clinch victory.

    Dominican Republic lost 3-1 to Uruguay in the first round which automatically put them into this relegation tie. The scores were level after the opening day but Uruguay won the doubles before Marcel Felder defeated Jose Hernandez in 5 sets to clinch the tie for Uruguay.
