  • Tie Summary

South Africa travel to Slovenia for a 1st Round play-off with the losers playing Russia in the final relegation play-off. These two nations have met just once before, last year in fact, when South Africa emerged as 4-1 victors. Interestingly, both teams are in this match having lost to Poland.

Slovenia lost to Poland 3-2 in the Zone Group I 1st Round in February. They won an epic doubles rubber 13-11 in the fifth set to prolong the tie but they were blown away in the singles.

South Africa had a bye through the first round and faced Poland in the second round in April, and suffered a similar fate losing 3-1.
