These two teams have met in Davis Cup on four previous occasions with Guatemala holding the upper hand, winning in 2005, 2007 and 2012. Haiti won their very first meeting in 1992 and will be hoping to repeat that feat to avoid immediate relegation from Americas Zone Group II having worked so hard to win promotion last year.
Both sides suffered convicing away defeats in the first round, but Guatemala has the benefit of the home advantage this time out. Christopher Diaz-Figueroa managed the team's only rubber in its last outing, grabbing a consolation point in a 4-1 defeat to Venezuela.
Always the underdogs in its first round tie, Haiti was dealt a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Peru. The visitors were unable to get on the scoreboard until the dead fourth rubber, when Olivier Sajous took the second set off Sergio Galdos.
