  • Tie Summary

Lebanon are attempting to defeat Sri Lanka for the first time in Davis Cup. This is their fourth meeting, first as Group II members, and first time hosting for Lebanon. Whoever loses this tie will be relegated to Group III for 2014.

After a hard-fought return to Group II for 2012, Lebanon were unable to progress past the first round and had to fight to avoid relegation. Their second chance this year resulted in a crushing 5-0 defeat to New Zealand in February, when they only managed to win nine games in the whole weekend.

Sri Lanka were in a similar position, having also qualified for Group II in 2012 and avoided relegation after a first round loss. They lost their first round tie again this year, in a deciding fifth rubber against Pakistan.
