Monaco and Latvia have their second Davis Cup meeting. In their last meeting in 2007, Latvia whitewashed Monaco 5-0 to qualify for Group I for the first ever time.

Monaco hosts at the Monte Carlo Country Club for the second time this year. They won their season-opener for the first time since 2009 when they beat the better-ranked Belarus 3-1 in February. Benjamin Balleret was instrumental in the tie, winning all three of his rubbers. Monaco are hoping to go all the way this year and qualify for Group I for the first time in history.

Latvia are hoping to reach the final round of Group II for the second year running and have another stab at Group I status. In February, they beat Tunisia at home 3-0 with Ernests Gulbis and Andis Juska scoring the wins.
