  • Tie Summary

Cyprus hosts Benin for their Europe/Africa Group II relegation play-off. Cyprus won both of their previous Davis Cup meetings in 1997 and 2001.

These nations have contrasting Davis Cup histories: Cyprus has been in Group II since 2006, whereas Benin made its Group II debut this year. So both will be desperate to avoid relegation.

Benin’s unbeaten run of six ties ended in their Group II debut tie against the more experienced Portugal, to whom they lost 0-5. Cyprus fell to Lithuania – led by Ricardas Berankis – 4-1.
