  • Tie Summary

Uzbekistan and Australia meet for just the second time in Davis Cup. In 1998, Australia beat Uzbekistan 5-0 at home in a World Group play-off with Pat Rafter, Jason Stoltenberg and the Woodies on board.

Uzbekistan will host again after their successful home victory over China P.R in the Group I first round in February when they won inside two days. They will be looking to repeat their success of last year when they reached the World Group play-offs for the first time in three years. They have never been in the World Group.

Australia defeated Chinese Taipei 5-0 in Kaohsiung City to reach this Group I stage for the sixth year in a row, and are on the road again as they aim for another shot at the World Group play-offs. They dropped out of the World Group in 2007 and lost their four subsequent chances at return in the 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 World Group play-offs.
