Ecuador travel to Switzerland in the World Group play-off for the first ever Davis Cup meeting between these two nations. With a World Group place at stake for next year, both will be desperate to win it.
Switzerland are facing relegation after suffering a 3-2 loss to Czech Republic in the World Group first round. That tie contained the longest rubber in Davis Cup history, when the doubles went on for seven hours and one minute. Unfortunately for the Swiss team, they were unable to win it and went on to lose the tie.
Ecuador are looking to make a return to the World Group. They last participated at the highest level in 2010 and earned their place in the World Group play-off thanks to a 3-2 victory over Chile. Emilio Gomez was Ecuador's hero, winning the fifth rubber in four sets.
