  • Tie Summary

Kazakhstan was able to resist a Belgian fightback to progress once again to the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group quarterfinals, a third appearance in four years.

Mikhail Kukushkin defeated Ruben Bemelmans in four sets to get the 2014 Kazakh campaign off to a positive start. Andrey Golubev and David Goffin then proceeded to slug it out for four hours and 38 minutes, with Golubev eventually winning the fifth set 1210. Wins for Bemelmans and Olivier Rochus in the doubles and Goffin in the first of the reverse singles hauled Belgium back into the tie, but Golubev was able to record a straight sets victory to send the Kazakhs into the quarterfinals.
