World Group Play-off

The deadline for official team nominations is 10 days before the tie begins.

Tie preview

Israel face Argentina for the first time since 1990 in this World Group play-off tie. Argentina have won the nations' two previous meetings without losing a rubber, but this match-up, hosted by Israel in Sunrise, Florida, looks set to be a much tighter affair.

This tie is something of a novelty for Martin Jaite's team: this is the first year that Argentina have failed to win in the first round since its return to the World Group in 2002. A strong Italian team led by Fabio Fognini, who contributed to all three points, defeated the Argentines on home soil to leave them fighting to retain their place amongst the Davis Cup elite. Playing Israel will be a difficult proposition too; the Israelis defeated Slovenia to reach this stage and will be desperate to make an immediate return to the World Group.
