World Group Play-off

The deadline for official team nominations is 10 days before the tie begins.

Tie preview

Uzbekistan must travel to Australia as it attempts to reach the World Group for the first time. These two sides last met in an Asia/Oceania Zone Group I tie in 2013, from which Australia emerged victorious after Bernard Tomic won both of his singles rubbers to secure a 3-1 win.

Australia will be looking to bounce back from the 5-0 thrashing delivered by a high-quality French team in February. By their own high standards, the Australians, normally such a strong Davis Cup force, have struggled in recent years. They will be desperate to spend consecutive seasons in the World Group for the first time since 2006/7. Uzbekistan squeezed past China, P.R. to reach this stage, having to rely on a five set win by Farrukh Dustov in the deciding rubber to progress.
