  • Tie Summary

Barbados pulled off a major upset as it defeated former Davis Cup finalists Chile. As he so often has been for the Barbadians, Darian King was the hero, winning both of his singles matches and teaming up with Haydn Lewis to win the doubles. King was able to draw Barbados level with a four set victory against Christian Garin, after Gonzalo Lama had given Chile the lead after a victory against Lewis. The Barbadians then came through a tough doubles match against Garin and Jorge Aguilar, leaving King to wrap the tie up in the fourth rubber by beating Lama in straight sets. It keeps Barbadian hopes of reaching Group I for the first time alive. Chile, meanwhile, will have to fight to stay in Zone Group II, just four years after the team made the World Group quarterfinals.
