    El Salvador breezed past Paraguay with only a brief period of difficulty, booking its place in the second round. The Arevalo brothers won all three of the crucial points, Marcelo defeating Juan Borba in the first rubber before Rafael was pushed to five sets, eventually coming through 63 in the fifth, by Diego Galeano. The brothers then paired up to win the doubles in straight sets. The Paraguayans managed some consolation, as they won the dead singles rubbers very comfortably, but they must now head to a relegation play-off in April to fight to remain in Zone Group II.
