    Brazil avenged its 2009 defeat to Ecuador with a win that sends the team through to World Group play-offs in September. Rogerio Dutra Silva defeated Julio-Cesar Campozano to put Brazil 1-0 up before Guilherme Clezar was forced to retire in the third set of his match with Emilio Gomez leaving the tie level at 1-1. A comprehensive win for Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in the doubles, followed by another four set win for Dutra Silva saw the Brazilians through.
