  • Tie Summary

Uzbekistan edged past China, P.R. in Tianjin, and will face a World Group play-off tie in September looking to reach the top tier of Davis Cup for the first time. The scores were level after two excellent five set matches which resulted in triumphs for Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin and China, P.R.'s Di Wu. The Uzbeks won the doubles before a surprise win for Wu against Istomin took the tie into a live fifth rubber. Ze Zhang pushed Farrukh Dustov very hard, but the Uzbek finally came through in five sets to book Uzbekistan's place in the play-offs.
