  • Tie Summary

Korea Republic travel to Chinese Taipei in September in this first round play-off tie. The losers will face New Zealand in a battle to remain in Group I at the end of October.

Chinese Taipei suffered a 5-0 defeat in the first round of this year's competition, in a tie that was closer than the scoreline suggests, as India's talented squad was tested in the live rubbers. Having received a bye through the first round, Korea Republic also suffered defeat at the hands of the Indian team as world No. 88 Somdev Devvarman won two points to help India to a 3-1 victory.
