Group IIAsia/Oceania1st Round
Kuwait host Indonesia in the first round of 2014, in what promises to be an intriguing tie. The two teams have met twice before, with Indonesia winning 3-2 in their most recent tie in 2009.
Following a three year absence from Zone Group II, Kuwait ensured that they would compete at this level for at least another season with a 3-2 victory over Syria in the relegation play-offs in April 2013. Despite losing the first rubber, the Kuwaitis remained strong and won the following three rubbers for the loss of only one set.
Indonesia endured a fruitless 2013 season, being relegated from Zone Group I after 0-5 losses in all three of their ties. Indeed, they only managed to win three sets all season. They will be hungry to improve in 2014, as they look to bounce back to the higher tier.
