31 Jan - 02 Feb 2014, Olympic Stadium, Moscow, Russia,
Russia will host Poland in the first round of Group I in 2014, with the winner facing Croatia in April. This will be the teams' first meeting since 1972, when Russia (then competing as the Soviet Union) recorded a 4-0 victory in Warsaw.
After losing out to Great Britain in an exciting quarterfinal tie in April 2013, the Russians secured their place in Group I with a comfortable 5-0 victory over South Africa. However, they will be eager to return to the World Group in 2014; this is the first time since the early 1990s that they have spent consecutive seasons beneath the top level.
Poland had its best ever season in 2013, losing out to Australia in the World Group play-offs. The Poles will be looking for their top-ranked player, Jerzy Janowicz, to continue his excellent Davis Cup form into 2014. Janowicz was unbeaten in four matches last season.
