  • Tie Summary

South Africa fought its way past Monaco in a dramatic tie at the Irene Country Club in Centurion. The first three rubbers went to five sets: Romain Arneodo upset Rik de Voest to put Monaco 1-0 up, before Nikala Scholtz defeated Benjamin Balleret to level the tie. Raven Klaasen and Ruan Roelofse survived a fightback from Guillaume Couillard and Thomas Oger to win the third rubber, and de Voest atoned for his earlier defeat in the first reverse singles match, defeating Balleret to send South Africa through to the next round, as it looks to immediately win promotion back to Zone Group I.
