31 Jan - 02 Feb 2014, Mojmilo Sports Hall , Sarajevo, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Carpet, Indoor
Sarajevo is the venue for the first round tie between Bosnia/Herzegovina and Greece. This will be the first meeting between the nations at this level; their only previous meeting came in 1998, a Zone Group III round robin match, which Greece won 3-0.
Bosnia/Herzegovina got 2013 off to a good start with a 4-1 victory over Luxembourg, and not dropping a single set in a live rubber. However, their progress was halted by Moldova at the quarterfinal stage, as Radu Albot contributed to all three of his country's three points in a 3-1 win for the Moldovans. The defeat means that this will be Bosnia/Herzegovina's fifth year competing in Group II.
Greece return to Group II after a two year absence, following a successful campaign in 2013. Comfortable wins over Montenegro and Liechtenstein in the round robin stage gave the Greeks a promotion play-off against Macedonia. Despite a surprise loss for Markos Kalovelonis, Greece came through 2-1 to ensure victory and promotion was theirs.
