    Spearheaded by Radu Albot and Maxim Dubarenco, Moldova defeated a tricky Belarus side in the second round this year. Albot and Dubarenko put Moldova 2-0 up at the end of Friday's singles rubbers, before the Belarussians won the doubles to keep the tie alive. Albot was then forced to come from two sets down against Egor Gerasimov in the fourth rubber, winning the tie and keeping Moldova's hopes of reaching Zone Group I for the first time alive.
