Denmark host Moldova as the teams do battle for a place in Europe/Africa Zone Group I in 2015. The Danes won the only previous tie between the two nations, a 5-0 whitewash in Chisinau in 2002.
Spearheaded by Radu Albot and Maxim Dubarenco, Moldova defeated a tricky Belarus side in the second round this year. Albot and Dubarenko put Moldova 2-0 up at the end of Friday's singles rubbers, before the Belarussians won the doubles to keep the tie alive. Albot was then forced to come from two sets down against Egor Gerasimov in the fourth rubber, winning the tie and keeping Moldova's hopes of reaching Zone Group I for the first time alive. Denmark overcame Luxembourg 5-0, although the team was made to fight hard as both the Frederik Nielsen's second rubber clash against Mike Scheidweiler and the doubles were settled in five sets.
