Ireland defeated Egypt for a fourth time, avoiding relegation and staying in Zone Group II for a ninth consecutive season. James McGee and Mohammed Safwat both recorded wins on the first day, but Sam Barry and James Cluskey emerged victorious from the doubles leaving Ireland in the driving seat. McGee was too good for Safwat in the first reverse singles rubber, winning to consign the Egyptians to an immediate return to Zone Group III.
