MATCH REPORT

Venezuela need just one more point to advance to the second round of Americas Zone Group II after wins for Luis David Martinez and Ricardo Rodriguez put the hosts in control against Puerto Rico in Caracas.

Martinez saw off Ricardo Gonzalez-Diaz 62 63 46 61 and Rodriguez defeated Gabriel Flores Ruiz 61 63 63 to give Venezuela a 2-0 lead at the end of the first day's play.

The winner of this tie will play either Bolivia or Domincan Republic in April's second round tie and with the score 1-1 in Santo Domingo it's too early to guess who that might be.

Dominican Republic's Victor Estrella got the home side off to a winning start against Bolivia with a 60 62 67(5) 60 victory over Hugo Dellien before Federico Zeballos proved too good for Jose Hernandez in the second rubber, winning 62 46 62 64 to level the scores for the visitors.

Barbados are 1-0 up against Paraguay thanks to Darian King's 63 63 64 defeat of Juan-Enrique Crosa while Haydn Lewis (BAR) led Daniel-Alejandro Lopez Cassaccia 64 75 1-1 before the match was postponed due to rain. It is scheduled to restart at 10am on Saturday. Mexico hold a 2-0 lead over El Salvador after Daniel Garza overcame Rafael Arevalo 63 57 64 63 and Cesar Ramirez defeated Marcelo Arevalo 61 63 64. The winners of these ties play each other in April.
