Roger Federer has fully immersed himself in the last Grand Slam of the year, trying to continue his great run of form this year and win what would be his sixth US Open title and his eighteenth major.

His current task is obvious but the Swiss has clearly stated that he is not ruling out that his next objective will be helping his country maintain their place in the World Group, the highest stage of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas.

The Swiss master said “It's obviously one that's an interesting choice of surface from their side, playing outdoors on clay.  But then again, you know, it's an exciting tie because Dutch fans are always amazing.”

Federer has already played a tie in Holland and he was responsible for two individual points in the 3-2 win.

“I remember when I played there (…) 2003 I think it was, we had a great time.” He recounted.

Despite the possibility of being able to count on his presence and great form, Federer is not over-confident and focussed on the difficulty of facing a Dutch team containing a player like Robin Haase, currently No. 48 in the world.

“I hope obviously the Swiss can win.  But it's going to be difficult.” Federer stressed. “Away ties in Holland are always very difficult.”

Federer has played in the last three Davis Cup matches for Switzerland, helping his country reach the World Group in 2011 and surprisingly losing in the first round to the USA in 2012. Now his participation is unknown but he hopes to know for certain in the next few days.

“Don't know yet.” He said regarding his participation. “Take a decision next 10 days.  A lot is happening in my life.”
