Australia's captain Patrick Rafter has handed starting places to the nation's most capped Davis Cup player Lleyton Hewitt and Matthew Ebden, with Hewitt taking on Tsung-Hua Yang in the opening rubber before Ebden plays Ti Chen in Friday's second match.

Hewitt and regular Davis Cup doubles partner Chris Guccione pair up on Saturday against Hsien Yin Peng and Hsin-Han Lee before Sunday's reverse singles. Rafter can change his nominated singles team on Sunday and has indicated that he wants to leave his options open.

Uzbekistan's star player Denis Istomin tops the bill in Namangan as the hosts once again bid for a place in the elite World Group having fallen once more at the last hurdle in last year's competition.

Istomin will share duties with Farrukh Dustov in the singles rubbers before they pair together for Saturday's rubber. The Chinese side will be looking to cause an upset with no players selected currently ranked inside the Top 100, although the same group did score a victory over in the last meeting between the nations back in 2010.

India might be fielding some unfamiliar names alongside its Davis Cup veteran Leander Paes, but the home side will still be tough to beat in the imposing R.K Khanna stadium in Delhi, which hosted the tennis event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan opens for India against Min Hyeok Cho of Korea on Friday before Vijayant Malik takes on Suk-Young Jeong in the second rubber. Saturday sees crowd favourite Paes team up with Purav Raja against Yong-Kyu Lim and Ji Sung Nam in the doubles before Sunday's reverse singles featuring Virali- Murugesan against Jeong and, lastly, Malik against Cho.

Without Kei Nishikori, Japan must dig in to defeat Indonesia at home. Tatsuma Ito will start the campaign when he takes on Indonesia's lynchpin Christopher Rungkat. Go Soeda and Wisnu Adi Nugroho (INA) then play in Friday's second rubber.

Saturday sees Ito join forces with Yasutaka Uchiyama against Ketut-Nesa Arta and Elbert Sie before Soeda plays Rungkat and Ito takes on Nugroho in Friday's reverse singles.
