CHARLEROI, BELGIUM: Rafael Nadal was satisfied with Friday's victory over Ruben Bemelmans that gives Spain a comfortable 2-0 lead going into day two.

It was a less than perfect day for Belgian captain Reginald Willems, but he paid tribute to the efforts of Bemelmans and Xavier Malisse, who lost the opening rubber to Fernando Verdasco. He only had compliments too for the performance of world No. 1 Nadal.
