Mexico v Puerto Rico

- Venue: Palmas Athletic Club
- Location: Humacao, Puerto Rico
- Surface: Outdoor Hard

Mexico leads Puerto Rico 2-0 at the end of a successful opening day for the visiting team. Miguel-Angel Reyes-Varela was made to work hard by Alex Llompart before ekeing out at 7-6(7), 6-3, 7-6(4) win to put Mexico ahead early on.

Reyes-Varela's team-mate - and Mexico's No.1 player - Daniel Garza followed him onto court and delivered an emphatic 6-2, 6-0, 6-3 win over Christian Garay to extend Mexico's lead in the tie and put the pressure on Puerto Rico heading into Saturday's doubles.

El Salvador v Barbados

- Venue: Maya Country Club
- Location: Santa Tecla, El Salvador
- Surface: Outdoor Clay

Seeded nation El Salvador is one win away from securing a first round victory over Barbados after wins for Rafael and Marcelo Arevalo in Friday's singles rubbers. Rafael needed four sets to ease past Darian King 6-3, 6-7(1), 6-2, 6-4 in the opening match before Marcelo Arevalo made it two wins out of two.

Marcelo Arevalo's 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 win over Anthony Marshall meant that the El Salvadorian No.1 lived up to his ATP World Tour ranking of 382 and leaves King and Russell Moseley needing a win against the Arevalos in Saturday's doubles to avoid defeat.

Venezuela v Guatemala

- Venue: Centro Nacional de Tenis
- Location: Caracas, Venezuela
- Surface: Outdoor Hard

David Souto and Ricardo Rodriguez gave the crowd at the Centro Nacional de Tenis in Caracas plenty to cheer about with day one wins against, respectively, Sebastian Vidal and Christopher Diaz-Figueroa.

Souto, ranked 330 and so the highest-ranked player in either team, was too strong for Vidal and ran out a 6-2, 6-1, 7-6(5) winner. Rodriguez, ranked 380, needed to work a little harder before defeating Diaz-Figueroa 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. Guatamala has nominated Vidal and Diaz-Figueroa in what is now a must-win doubles rubber against Luis David Martinez and Piero Luisi.

Peru v Haiti

- Venue: Club Lawn Tennis de la Exposicion
- Location: Lima, Peru
- Surface: Outdoor Clay

So efficient was Peru on day one that its singles players, Duillo Beretta and Mauricio Echazu earned singles wins without dropping a single set. Beretta beat Hillel Rousseau 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 before Echazu defeated Olivier Sajous 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 to extend the home side's lead to 2-0.

Sajous and Joel Allen have been nominated for Haiti in the doubles against Beretta and Sergio Galdos and face the seemingly uphill task of trying to keep the tie alive heading into day three.
