Argentina’s captain Tito Vazquez has named a five-man squad to travel to Spain for the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Final, taking place on clay at the Olympic Stadium in Seville on 2-4 December.
Juan Martin del Potro, the world No. 11, leads the challenge for the visitors alongside Juan Monaco, Juan Ignacio Chela, David Nalbandian and Eduardo Schwank.
Vazquez is due to submit his official player nominations on 22 November, when he will need to narrow his squad down to the four-man team that will take on Spain.
It’s expected that Schwank will be the player to miss out, with Vazquez naming an unchanged line-up to the one that claimed a 3-2 win over Serbia in the World Group semifinals in September.
Spain’s captain Albert Costa will also be naming his team on 22 November, ten days before the Final gets under way, and Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer are both likely to feature.
“I think we are in our best moment as a team,” said Vazquez. “Juan Martin has been training twice a day and these players were born on clay.
"Day one is the key. Nadal is a tough nut, he's a motivator and very good for his team mates. If we're 1-1 at the end of day one we'll have a real chance of taking the trophy.”
