There are two World Group play-off places up for grabs for the winning nations in this weekend's Americas Zone Group I ties as Colombia takes on Uruguay and Ecuador hosts Chile.
In Cucuta, a strong Colombian outfit has been named to face just two of Uruguay's four-man team. Santiago Giraldo will play Marcel Felder in the opening rubber before Alejandro Falla, ranked No. 65, plays Ariel Behar who is ranked No. 1496.
Colombia has the luxury of naming doubles specialists Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah and they will take on Behar and Felder, who between them are playing on all three days of this tie.
In the other Americas Zone Group I tie between Ecuador and Chile, Julio-Cesar Campozano has been charged with getting the hosts off to a good start and he will take on Chile's 16-year-old sensation Christian Garin.
In the second tie on day one Chile's No. 1 Paul Capdeville looks to make a rankings differential of 444 places count against Emilio Gomez.
The doubles rubber sees Diego Hidalgo and Roberto Quiroz pair up for the hosts against Jorge Aguilar and Capdeville.
