The Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Zone Group II relegation play-off between Syria and Kuwait has switched home venues. The tie will now be hosted by Kuwait on the originally scheduled dates of 5-7 April.

The home-and-away rule dictates that this tie would normally be held in Syria, but ongoing security concerns in the region resulted in the situation being reviewed. The decision was taken by the Davis Cup Committee after consultation with the competition’s independent security consultants.

Syria was also scheduled to play at home in the first round against Philippines, but the choice of ground was reversed so that the tie was played at Plantation Bay Resort & Spa in Lapu-Lapu. The Syrian team fell to a 3-2 loss against their Filipino hosts and now face another away trip to maintain their place in Zone Group II.

Kuwait, who lost their first round clash with Thailand 4-1 earlier this month, have until 22 February to submit a venue for April's relegation match-up.
