Dominican Republic, the top seeds for the Junior Davis Cup North/Central American & Caribbean Pre-Qualifying event in La Libertad, El Salvador, emerged victorious when they took on Honduras in the final.
The opening rubber saw Jose Olivares of the Dominican Republic take on Cristian Zeron of Honduras. Zeron took the opening set 7-5 but Olivares fought back taking the second set 6-4, before going on to clinch the tie 57 64 61 in an incredible 2 hours 43 minutes.
The second rubber saw William Kirkman of Dominican Republic play Honduras' Andres Argenal. Kirkman was in exceptional form and managed to defeat the battling Argenal 64 61 to secure victory for Dominican Republic. The dead doubles rubber was not played.
This means that Dominican Republic have earned a spot in the North/Central American & Caribbean Final Qualifying event in Montreal on May 2-4, with the ultimate goal being a place in the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals on 24-29 September.
