HYOGO, JAPAN: Ivan Dodig and Ivo Karlovic paired up successfully to come through a tense three-hour encounter against Tatsuma Ito and Yuichi Sugita in Saturday's doubles.

Karlovic believes that their consistent serving was key to today's 64 64 36 63 victory, while Dodig speaks of his relief at winning a point for his country in this weekend's tie after coming so close in Friday's singles match against Go Soeda.

The Japanese duo speak of their disappointment and how their serving let them down but they have no doubt that their singles players can win two points tomorrow and help Japan to a quarterfinal spot.
