WIENER NEUSTADT, AUSTRIA: As first-time outings go, it was a fruitful partnership between Nikolay Davydenko and his countryman Mikhail Youzhny but it wasn't without its ups and downs.
The Russian duo explain that Davydenko was feeling unwell throughout the tie and Youzhny was having problems with a shoulder injury, but that still didn't stop them from coming back from 3-0 down in the fifth set to win 76(1) 67(7) 75 36 64 in a little less than five hours.
The Austrian partnership were understandably crestfallen after their defeat but remain confident, along with captain Clemens Trimmel, that the hosts can seal the tie tomorrow to claim a long-awaited place in the quarterfinals.
