BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: The Argentinean fans have not always been credited with showing sympathy to the opposition but Croatian Marin Cilic was more than appreciative of their support on Sunday as he battled physical exhaustion in a 61 62 61 loss to home favourite Juan Martin del Potro in their Davis Cup by BNP Paribas quarterfinal match.
The tie was on the line in the contest but Cilic, having already played two five-set matches this weekend, was unable to match the Argentinean No.1 from start to finish. Del Potro was relieved to put the result beyond doubt without the nail biting prospect of a fifth rubber, with David Nalbandian himself having featured in both marathon spectacles.
Both captains, Martin Jaite and Zeljko Krajan reflect on the weekend's play with our journalists Maximiliano Boso.
