NAPLES, ITALY: Andreas Seppi was pleased with his straight sets victory over Guillermo Hormazabal which ensured the hosts took the initial lead. He is conscious of the pressure that comes with being the overwhelming favourites and hopes his team can secure a straight rubber win.
However, if Seppi is needed on Sunday he is fully prepared to face Chile's No. 1 player Paul Capdeville and looks ahead to that match up.
Both captains also placed great emphasis on just how important the second rubber is, but for different reasons. Chilean captain Belus Prajoux admitted that his side were unlikely to win the first match and knew that this was the one they needed to kickstart their cause.
Corrado Barazzutti, the Italian captain, said that the Italians needed the second point to maintain their momentum going into the doubles match.
