Yevgeny Kafelnikov has joined the group of tennis legends to appear in the Davis Cup Idols series, talking about his memories and experiences of the competition.
Kafelnikov enjoyed an illustrious Davis Cup career spanning over ten years. He led Russia to the final in 1994 and 1995, but had to wait until 2002 before eventually tasting glory after a 3-2 win over France.
"We were so fortunate to play for our country and it was a huge, huge weight on our shoulders," said Kafelnikov. "It's a unique event, unlike any other. Davis Cup has always been a huge part of my career.
"In 2002, I knew it was the last chance for me to accomplish the ultimate goal that I was missing in my career. For me, it was just a great experience to be part of that wonderful competition. The last really big accomplishment for me came by winning the Davis Cup."
