WIENER NEUSTADT, AUSTRIA: Austria reached the last eight for the first time since 1995 after a 3-2 victory over Russia in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round. After two singles wins on day one, Austria were pegged back by Russia in the doubles, but the home team's No. 1 player Jurgen Melzer wasn't to be denied and sealed the tie by defeating Alex Bogomolov Jr in the fourth rubber. Austria's first appearance in the World Group quarterfinals for 17 years will be on away soil against defending champions Spain.
