HYOGO, JAPAN: Ivo Karlovic was the hero for the visitors as he won all three of his rubbers to hand Croatia a 3-2 win over Japan in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round. In the deciding fifth rubber, the big serving Karlovic overpowered Go Soeda in straight sets. Croatia will travel to Argentina in the World Group quarterfinals.
