Next tie 18-20 September 2015
Australia will travel to face Andy Murray and Great Britain in their first World Group semifinal since 2006, looking to reach their first final in 12 years.
Last tie 17-19 July 2015
Australia found themselves in somewhat of a hole after the opening day of their quarterfinal with Kazakhstan. Cue Sam Groth and Lleyton Hewitt. Trailing 2-0, Groth and Hewitt won Saturday's doubles clash, before both winning their singles rubbers on Sunday to complete an exciting comeback for the Aussies and advance to the semifinals. Fittingly, it was Hewitt who won his first live fifth rubber for Australia in what will be his last ever Davis Cup due to his pending retirement at the 2016 Australian Open.
Australia is second only to the Americans on the all-time list of Davis Cup champions, having won the title 28 times. In 1939, when facing USA, it produced the only successful comeback from 2-0 down in a Final. Between 1905 and 1922, Aussie players represented Australasia, which was a combined Australia-New Zealand team.
