Belgium face Ukraine in Tallinn, Estonia for what could be a tricky World Group play-off tie in September. The Belgians have come out on top in both of the nations' previous meetings, winning 4-1 in 2006 and withstanding a Ukrainian comeback to win 3-2 in 2009.

Belgium came up just short of a stunning comeback from 2-0 down against Kazakhstan in Astana. Having dropped both rubbers on the opening day Ruben Bemelmans and Olivier Rochus took victory in the doubles and David Goffin edged out Mikhail Kukushkin in five sets to send it to a decider. Bemelmans was no match for Andrey Golubev in the final rubber, however, losing 62 63 61.
Belgium's best performance came back in 1904, when it finished runner-up. More recently, the Belgians reached the semifinals in 1999.
